Bala Yesu Parish

The Bala Yesu (Infant Jesus) Parish Churchis situated at Dondapudi in the diocese of ELuru, in the West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh State. The Congregation of the Heralds of Good News acquired the land in 1985. They handed it over to the diocese of Eluru in 1991. In 1992, a parish was established bifurcated it from the Parish of Polavaram. Due to its serene sorroundings, Bishop John Mulagada established a Shrine of the Infant Jesus that was designed by Bro. Emmanuel OFMCap and executed by Msgr. Abraham Vellarankala.

The Parish has the substations namely Geangolu, Pragadapalli, Rajapalem Colony, Rajapalem and Sagipadu. The Parish is attached to the Bala Yesu Franciscan Ashram at Dondapudi whcih was canonically established as a Friary on 13 June 2001 on an area of eleven acres of land donated by Bishop His Grace John Mulagada of Eluru together with the Shrine of Bala Yesu and the residence for the Friars. Fr. Joseph Cilia, Provincial Custos, blessed the Friary on 28 June Bishop John Mulagada presided over the Eucharistic celebration in which he officially handed over the parish to the Custody. This day also marked the beginning of the Andhra Mission.
