Friars Join Forces to Aid Victims of Floods and Landslides

A Heartfelt Mission of Service, Solidarity, and Compassion in Action

Kandy – January 2026: In a heartfelt mission of service and solidarity, the Friars, together with several other religious congregations, stepped forward to assist communities devastated by recent floods and landslides. Their united effort brought timely relief, comfort, and hope to families struggling to rebuild their lives.

The brothers travelled to the affected villages where homes, farmlands, and public spaces had been severely damaged. Working tirelessly, they helped clean mud-filled houses, cleared debris from landslide-hit areas, and restored access paths that had been blocked by fallen earth and rubble. Their hands-on service made a significant difference for families who had lost almost everything.

In addition to the cleanup work, the team organized and distributed essential food packs, drinking water, and other basic supplies. Special attention was given to vulnerable households, including the elderly, children, and families whose homes were completely destroyed. Notably, the Friars took part in cleaning a public well, which became a vital necessity for the people of the village.

The collaboration among the Friars and various religious brothers became a powerful witness of compassion in action. Their presence not only provided practical assistance but also strengthened the spirits of the affected people, reminding them that they are not alone in their struggle.
