Bellarmine University’s Visit to ASK

Fostering Global Fraternity Through Academic and Cultural Exchange

Assisi Shanthi Kendra (ASK) – December 11–21, 2025: From December 11th to 21st, 2025, Assisi Shanthi Kendra was enlivened by the presence of a vibrant delegation of students and staff from Bellarmine University, Kentucky. Under the esteemed guidance of Rev. Fr. John Pozhathuparambil, this youth group embarked on an immersive study program designed to bridge continents through academic and cultural exchange.

Upon their arrival, the ASK community extended a traditional Kerala welcome. The guests were honored with fragrant jasmine garlands, the ceremonial application of sandalwood tilak, and the refreshing simplicity of tender coconuts—a reception that perfectly captured the warm essence of Indian hospitality.

Fr. Alphonse Vazhappanady, the Guardian of ASK, formally welcomed the visitors, offering his blessings for a transformative and comfortable stay. Over the course of twelve days, the delegation traversed various locales across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, meticulously exploring the rich tapestry of Indo-Kerala heritage, local customs, and historical landmarks. This experiential journey provided the students with profound insights into the regional culture, beautifully fostering a spirit of global fraternity.

The visit culminated in a heartfelt farewell ceremony, where the students shared glowing feedback regarding their experiences and the warmth they encountered at the Kendra. To mark the occasion, the community presented the guests with "tokens of love"—handpicked mementos serving as lasting reminders of their time in India.

A special highlight of the evening was the honoring of Rev. Fr. John Pozhathuparambil on the auspicious occasion of his Sacerdotal Silver Jubilee. In recognition of his twenty-five years of dedicated service, he was presented with a ceremonial stole and a commemorative memento, a true symbol of the deep respect and affection the community holds for his leadership.
