A New Chapter in Franciscan Service

Joyous Priestly Ordination and First Holy Mass of Fr. Saroj Nayak and Fr. Madan Baliarsingh in Odisha

Odisha, January 2026: – The Order of Friars Minor Conventual experienced a profound moment of grace and spiritual joy as it celebrated the Priestly Ordination of Dn. Saroj Nayak and Dn. Madan Baliarsingh. The sacred rite of ordination took place at 10:00 a.m. on the morning of January 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Church in Godapur, Odisha.

The sacrament of Holy Orders was graciously conferred by His Excellency, Bishop John Barwa, S.V.D., of the Cuttack–Bhubaneswar Archdiocese. The solemn ceremony was beautifully witnessed by a large gathering of fellow friars, clergy, religious, family members, and the local faithful, all uniting in prayer to bless the newly ordained priests.

Filled with immense gratitude for the divine gift of their priestly vocation, Fr. Saroj and Fr. Madan offered their First Holy Mass (Thanksgiving Mass) the following day, January 29, at Fatima Jononi Catholic Church in Pokari. The Eucharistic celebration was a heartfelt expression of thanksgiving to God and a testament to their dedication to the Church.

These blessed celebrations marked a significant milestone not only for the newly ordained priests but also for the entire Franciscan community and the local Church in Odisha. As Fr. Saroj and Fr. Madan officially begin their priestly ministry, they step forward to serve God’s people, deeply guided by the Franciscan spirit of prayer, fraternity, and mission.
