Oath-Taking Ceremony Of New Guardian
Fr. Ferdinant Melappilly Officially Assumes Leadership at Assisi Snehalaya
11 May 2026, Coimbatore: A solemn Oath-Taking Ceremony was held at the Friary chapel of Assisi Snehalaya, marking an important occasion in the life of the fraternity. Fr. Ferdinant Melappilly formally took the oath as the new Guardian of Assisi Snehalaya in the presence of the Provincial, Michael Earaly, and co-friars of the community.
The ceremony began with a prayer service seeking God’s guidance and blessings upon the new Guardian and the community. During the ceremony, Fr. Ferdinant solemnly professed the oath of office, affirming his commitment to the responsibilities entrusted to him and to serve the fraternity in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Provincial presided over the ceremony and officially entrusted Fr. Ferdinant with the leadership of the community. In his address, he emphasized the significance of dedicated leadership, fraternity, and service, encouraging the new Guardian to guide the community with wisdom, humility, and zeal. He also invited the members of the fraternity to extend their wholehearted support and cooperation to the new Guardian in carrying out the mission of Assisi Snehalaya.
Following the oath, members of the community expressed their prayerful support and best wishes to Fr. Ferdinant as he assumed his new responsibilities. In his response, Fr. Ferdinant thanked the Provincial and the fraternity for the trust placed in him and sought the prayers and collaboration of all as he began his ministry as Guardian
