Youfra Outreach to Assisi Snehalaya and Kotagiri

Christianpet youth team shares compassion at HIV care home, experiences Franciscan vocation, and bonds during a fellowship trip to Ooty.

Christianpet, November 2025:The Youfra Christianpet team carried out a meaningful outreach visit to Assisi Snehalaya, the care home for people living with HIV, on Children’s Day, November 14. The purpose of the visit was to spend time with the children and residents, offer support, and share joy with them.

Even though most of the Youfra members are students, they generously collected a small contribution from their own savings and sponsored essential items for Assisi Snehalaya. Their initiative reflected true Franciscan values of compassion, generosity, and service.

During the visit, the youth assisted in various activities, interacted with the residents, and offered emotional care. It was a heart-touching experience that deepened their understanding of the challenges faced by people living with HIV and inspired them toward greater social responsibility.

Following their service, the team travelled to Belvedere Franciscan Ashram, Kotagiri, the Franciscan Novitiate House. The brothers there welcomed them warmly, and the time spent in the novitiate community was spiritually enriching. The experience helped the youth appreciate the Franciscan way of life and the vocation journey of the novices.

On November 16, the group visited Ooty for leisure and enjoyment. The time spent together in the hill station offered relaxation, bonding, and joyful moments for the entire team after their days of service and spiritual exposure.

In the early morning of November 17, the Youfra team began their journey back home, bringing with them cherished memories and a renewed commitment to service and fellowship.

Overall, the visit to Assisi Snehalaya, the Belvedere Franciscan Ashram at Kotagiri, and the leisure trip to Ooty made the entire journey a fruitful, joyful, and grace-filled experience for the Youfra Christianpet members.
