Dondapudi, Andhra Pradesh - February 24, 2026: The Balayesu Shrine in Dondapudi, located in the East Godavari district, witnessed a vibrant expression of faith and community as it hosted its annual Balayesu Feast from February 22nd to 24th. Over the course of three days, approximately three thousand devotees gathered to participate in the spiritual and cultural festivities.
The celebrations commenced on February 22nd with the hoisting of the feast flag and a Festal Mass celebrated by Fr. John, the parish priest of Vegeswarapuram. The spiritual preparation continued on February 23rd with a Festal Mass led by Fr. Kumar. Throughout the first two days, the homilies focused deeply on the season of Lent, providing the faithful with insightful reflections on both the practical applications and the rich theology of the Lenten journey.
The feast reached its culmination on February 24th with a solemn Festal Mass officiated by His Excellency, Rev. Dr. Bishop Jayarao Polimera. In an inspiring homily, the Bishop spoke on the essence of Lent, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a deep union with God and with one another in relation to Balayesu. The solemn Mass was concelebrated by the Delegate Superior of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, Fr. Sinto OFM Conv., and the Superior of the Balayesu Ashram, Fr. Alex. Around nineteen priests, along with religious sisters from various convents, actively participated in the spiritual celebration.

Following the Holy Mass, a heartfelt thanksgiving and felicitation ceremony was held for the Bishop. He was warmly greeted by the Delegate Superior, the sangapethalu, parishioners, and the Shrine Director and Parish Priest, Fr. Jeo OFM Conv.
The spirit of brotherhood was evident throughout the event, with food generously provided for all the faithful across the three days. The grand celebration joyfully concluded with vibrant cultural programs, reflecting the lively faith and unity of the Dondapudi parish community.
