A Journey of Faith and Fraternity

Eight student friars of Kolbe Franciscan Ashram reflect on their 24-day missionary exposure across Northeast India and Kolkata.

May 7 – 30, 2026 | Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Kolkata: – From May 7 to 30, 2026, eight student friars—Jojo, Subin, Joyal, Martin, Sisir, Chintu, Gopinath, and Antony—participated in “Mission 20.” This journey provided us with a blessed opportunity to engage in pastoral activities and deepen our Franciscan vocation across our mission stations.

Arunachal Pradesh Traveling to the remote, mountainous villages of Gangte and Restaring, we witnessed the remarkable resilience of the local people. In Gangte, we were moved by their strong community bonds, eco-friendly bamboo homes, and hardworking nature. In Restaring, we spent days praying and sharing meals with Catholic families. Despite isolation and hardships, this small community remains steadfast in their faith, beautifully guided by the grand love and brotherhood of Fr. Tijo and Fr. Don.

Assam During our brief stay in Assam, we saw firsthand the poverty and crises families face. Yet, the dedicated presence of Fr. Shinto, Fr. Manuel, and Fr. Sajesh brings them immense hope and spiritual strength, proving that even a small presence in a place of suffering can ignite lasting faith.

Kolkata In Kolkata, we were welcomed as family by people facing immense daily challenges. Their cheerful simplicity and unwavering trust in God taught us profound lessons in humility. They showed us that true happiness is found in genuine love, selfless service, and a living faith, rather than material wealth.

Gratitude  This fruitful mission renewed our zeal for service. We thank God for His blessings and extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Provincial, Fr. Michael Earaly, Fr. Louis (Rector), Fr. Sebastian (Mission In-charge), and all the fathers and communities who guided, hosted, and supported us throughout this journey.
