Assisi Shanthi Kendra Hosts a Meaningful Reflection on Franciscan Missionary Spirituality
6 August 2026 | Assisi Shanthi Kendra, Karukutty - More than 150 participants gathered at Assisi Shanti Kendra, Karukutty, for a half-day seminar on “St. Francis’s Transitus and His Missionary Spiritual Heritage,” organized to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi.
The seminar was inaugurated with an introduction by Rev. Fr. Alphonse Vazhappanady, OFM Conv. The main session was presented by Rev. Fr. Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, OFM Conv., General Secretary of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU), Director of Agenzia Fides, and Director of the International Center for Missionary Animation (CIAM).
Fr. Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen, OFM Conv., previously served as President of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure (Seraphicum) in Rome and holds a doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. In 2015, he founded the Franciscan Institute for Asian Theological Studies.
The seminar offered a meaningful reflection on the Transitus of St. Francis and the enduring missionary dimension of his spiritual heritage. It invited participants to rediscover the Franciscan vocation of Gospel witness, fraternity, and missionary service in the contemporary world.
The programme brought together more than 150 participants, making it a significant gathering for reflection and formation during the Franciscan celebration of the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’s Transitus.
