Football Tournament Marks the Grand Opening of PAX Sports Hub

14 June 2026, Karukutty: To commemorate the inauguration of the newly established PAX Sports Hub, YOUFRA Karukutty successfully organized a state-level football tournament, bringing together young athletes from various parts of Kerala in a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, fraternity, and Franciscan values.

The tournament was ceremonially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Michael Earaly, Minister Provincial, whose inspiring presence underscored the Province’s commitment to fostering holistic youth development through sports. Mrs. Magi Babu, Panchayat Member, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, adding significance to the inaugural ceremony.

A total of 16 teams from different regions of Kerala participated in the highly competitive tournament, showcasing exceptional talent, discipline, and team spirit. After a series of thrilling encounters, Palliyangadi FC emerged as the tournament champions and received a cash prize of ₹15,000 along with the championship trophy. United Kapprassery secured the runners-up position and was presented with a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a trophy in recognition of their outstanding performance.

To acknowledge individual excellence, special awards were presented to the Best Striker, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Defender, honouring players who demonstrated remarkable skill and commitment throughout the tournament.

The prize distribution ceremony was led by Rev. Fr. Kolbe Puthenpurayil, Rev. Fr. Stanly Panelikudy, and Rev. Fr. Senet Kanjiraparambil, who congratulated the winning teams and commended all participants for their exemplary sportsmanship and dedication.

The successful organization of the tournament stands as a testament to the enthusiasm, teamwork, and meticulous coordination of the members of YOUFRA Karukutty. Their tireless efforts ensured the smooth execution of the event, making the inauguration of PAX Sports Hub a memorable milestone in the Province’s ongoing mission to promote youth empowerment through healthy recreation, fellowship, and Franciscan values.
