FRIARS FROM MALTA EXPERIENCE ARUNACHAL MISSION
Visiting Friars Share in the Life and Ministry of the Remote Mission
September 2026 | St. Mary’s Parish, Gangte, Arunachal Pradesh: Two Franciscan Conventual friars from Malta, Fr. Stephen Borg, OFM Conv., and Friar Sergio Cini, OFM Conv., visited the Franciscan mission in Arunachal Pradesh to experience the life and ministry of missionaries serving in this remote region.
During their visit to St. Mary’s Parish, Gangte, they spent time with Fr. Delvin Mangalan, OFM Conv., and Fr. Jithin Thanuparambil, OFM Conv., experiencing their daily missionary life and fraternity.
They visited several villages, participated in pastoral activities, and witnessed the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and sacraments. They also experienced the local Nyishi culture, food, hospitality, and the challenges of travelling through difficult mountain roads to reach remote communities.
The visit was a beautiful opportunity for Franciscan fraternity and missionary sharing, giving the friars from Malta a closer look at the joys and challenges of the Arunachal mission. Different places, different cultures, one Franciscan fraternity, one mission.
